Community Events

by Kati Mangrio
Community Events Committee Chair

The month of December is always busy with preparations for the holidays and the New Year. We attend many parties, see all our friends, family, colleagues, eat lots of nice food and enjoy all those beautiful lights.

This year the Events Committee has tried to contribute to all the festivities by organizing a holiday party for the senior community of Montclair. It will be held on December 6th at Giorgio's Family Restaurant from 2:30-5:30pm. A buffet style dinner will be served and the Platinum Vocal Jazz Choir of Forest Park High School will be performing holiday and Jazz music. Tickets are sold for $5 a person. For last minute availability of tickets please call the MPOA office on 703 670 6187.

ANNUAL DOCK RENEWAL APPLICATIONS DUE THIS MONTH!

by Brandi Springs Langeneck
Covenants Director

Dock Owners please be advised that dock renewals are approaching fast. Those of you with docks on Lake Montclair must renew your dock applications for the New Year. Dock applications must be renewed anytime between December 1st and December 31st annually in order to avoid a two-hundred-dollar late fee. There is a five-dollar application fee that must be paid by check or money order (no cash will be accepted).

"There are risks and costs to a program of action. But they are far less than the long-range risks and costs of comfortable inaction."

by John F. Kennedy

Last month I spoke of the changes that the Board implemented to take a different course for the contracting of services here in the community. In October the Board set in motion a process to modify the traditional Montclair approach of having one large, all-inclusive, full service contract; and transition toward a distributed approach where selected services are subcontracted to companies that specialize in a particular service area. I stated that landscaping and security were two areas that have now been removed from the "core" Armstrong contract.
