Ad Hoc Communications Committee Charter

Charter for the MPOA Ad Hoc Committee on Communications - approved by MPOA Board of Directors 3/8/06

  1. Background: In his 'President's Page' letter in the December 2005 issue of The Montclairion, MPOA President Doug Taggart stated his intention to create an Ad Hoc Committee of the Board to work with management staff to improve MPOA's use of the Internet as a means of communicating with the community. At the February 2006 Meeting of MPOA's BOD, the Ad Hoc Committee on Communications was created.

  2. Objectives: Ad Hoc Committees are established by the BOD to address a specific problem. The specific problem that the Ad Hoc Committee on Communications has been formed to address is the need for improvement in the MPOA's use of the Internet to communicate with the community. Areas of improvement will include both the graphical design of the MPOA web site, and providing access to online features and resources not previously available.
  3. Guidance: The Ad Hoc Communications Committee will be guided by the MPOA documents and the Board of Directors.
  4. Requirements:
    1. Create a new graphic design and user-interface for the MPOA's web site at montclairva.com
    2. Identify the best ways to integrate MPOA's web site with online services available from Armstrong Connect.
    3. Identify and, where possible, implement other desirable functionality on the MPOA web site.
    4. Review and make recommendations how to best integrate the use of the Internet by the MPOA with other available means of communication, especially The Montclairion.
    5. Work with the BOD and Management to develop and deploy the new MPOA web site.
    6. Train staff designated by the BOD and Management to perform all routine functions in managing the web site.
    7. Develop and implement a plan to promote the new web site within the community, and to educate and train the community in its features and their use.
    8. Make recommendations for how the BOD and Management will provide for the ongoing upkeep and improvement of the use of the Internet by MPOA.
  5. Administration: The Communications Committee is an Ad Hoc Committee of the Montclair Property Owner's Association (MPOA) as defined by Article 3.3.3 of the MPOA Community Guidelines. Article 3 of the Community Guidelines of Montclair (Committees) will be used as the basic document for administration of the Committee's activities.
