Residents to Report Acts of Vandalism to PWC Police

When witnessing any evidence of vandalism, residents are asked to call the Prince William County Police non-emergency number at 703-792-6500.  The community has received several calls about increased vandalism but most incidents are not backed up by official police reports.  Please remember to call the police and report any acts of vandalism.

Halloween Safety Tips

With witches, goblins, and super-heroes descending on neighborhoods across America, we'd like to offer a few safety tips to help prepare their children for a safe and enjoyable trick-or-treat holiday. Halloween should be filled with surprise and enjoyment, and following some common sense practices can keep events safer and more fun.

  • Walk, slither, and sneak on sidewalks, not in the street.
  • Look both ways before crossing the street to check for cars, trucks, and low-flying brooms.
  • Cross the street only at corners.
  • Don't hide or cross the street between parked cars.

Lock Your Vehicles!

During the week of July 16, a total of thirteen incidents involving vehicle break-ins and robbery were reported to Montclair Community Patrol. The vehicles involved were either ransacked with nothing missing or valuables were taken.

Valuables reported missing included a digital camera, a laptop, three cell phones, a GPS system, a backpack, and cash. Of those thirteen incidents, only one car was reported to have been locked.

These incidents occurred on the following streets: Hopkins Drive, Rhame Drive, Loganberry Lane, Garden Gate Court, Silvan Glen Drive, and Montview Drive.

Neighborhood Watch Training Session Aug 23 at 7:00 p.m.

With the help of the PWC Police Department, the Safety Committee is teaming up Montclairions to start a Neighborhood Watch program right in Montclair. Neighborhood Watch is a FREE program of the PWC Police Department and is supported by community residents. Residents volunteer their time by organizing patrols to monitor their neighborhood, or simply keep their eyes and ears open as they go about their daily business.

There will be a Neighborhood Watch Training Session held Thursday August 23 at 7:00 p.m. at the MPOA building. The session will last approximately an hour and a half to two hours with a question-and-answer segment included.

 SAFETY: SPRING ‘SPRUCE-UP' SAFETY TIPS

Edison Lewark, Chairperson

Itching to get the yard into shape for summer?  Here are ways to help ensure your spring ‘spruce-up' is disaster free.

Limber up; many chores will involve muscles you haven't used in a while

Always wear protective clothing when handling pesticides and fertilizers

Did you know that more than 60,000 people are treated in emergency rooms each year for lawn mower injuries?  Also, at least 55,000 people each year sustain injuries from trimmers, lawn edgers, pruners, and power saws.

MPOA Introduces New Approach to Community Patrol

Patrol Vehicle

On January 9, 2007, the Montclair Property Owners Association placed on contract a professional security services company, Eagle Protection Services, Inc. of Manassas, Virginia.

For the next four months, two uniformed Eagle Protection security officers (see attached picture below) will be on duty seven days a week during an eight-hour period beginning in the late afternoon until early morning hours. These officers will be making random tours of the entire community and will be available to receive and respond to calls from the previous community patrol number 703-878-SAFE while on-duty. During off-duty hours, a call to the community patrol number, 703-878-SAFE, will direct you to leave a voice mail message for patrol follow-up.
