The Montclair Triathlon
The Montclair Triathlon, coming up on July 13, 2008 is now just two months away. With a great race so close to home, why not race yourself? The Montclair Triathlon consists of a 1000 meter swim in Lake Montclair, a three-loop 18 mile bike ride on Waterway Drive, and a two-loop, five-mile run on the sidewalks and paths of Montclair.
Don’t want to race but still want to be involved? Well you can volunteer to help out! Local groups are still needed to help direct athletes on the bike and run courses, and donations are made to all groups that help with the event. Volunteers are essential for any triathlon and they are needed for this event. From handing out water on the run course to helping with water safety in kayaks, there is a job for anyone that is interested in helping out. Anyone that is interested can contact Janie Langford at mom2run@hotmail.com, Doug Marocco at maroccos@hotmail.com, or Greg Hawkins at greg@setupevents.com.
Even if you aren’t interested in racing or volunteering, please come out and cheer on your fellow residents and guests to your community. They’ll appreciate the support and you’ll get to watch as local triathlete Doug Marocco defends his two previous wins at this event. For more information on this race visit www.setupevents.com and select the Virginia logo.
Also: Please note that the inside lane of Waterway Drive in each direction will be closed to vehicular traffic from 7:00 to 9:30 a.m. on Sunday July 13 for this event. Thanks in advance for your patience and for planning ahead. Course maps are available online at www.setupevents.com.
