Community Events Committee
A message from Kati Mangrio
The Community Events Committee is looking forward to presenting you with the events of 2007. We have been planning lots of new and exciting activities for our existing events as well as a new event called ‘Movies on the Beach.' We are hoping it will become one of your favorite family nights out. The committee is working hard with our new Events Coordinator to deliver top class events to Montclair; however, we still need all the help we can get from our volunteers who are kind enough to donate their time to our community. I would like to draw your attention to special areas where we will need help this year.
We are looking for bands interested in gaining exposure in front of a teen crowd to play at Montclair's Teen Beach Party. Last year four bands participated and one of them was so successful the committee requested they play during Oktoberfest. We are planning to have them again for Montclair Day this year. If you belong to a band or know of one that might be interested, please e-mail Maryanne Toal at events@montclairva.com.
The committee is working hard to deliver interesting, quality events while working with a limited budget; therefore we have decided to make some of the games ourselves that would be part of the entertainment during Montclair Day and Oktoberfest. Specifically, we are looking for volunteers who enjoy painting and decorating, especially art students who would also like to offset some of their community service hours by helping us. If you are interested, please e-mail me at mangrios4montclair@hotmail.com.
Our next event will be the Easter Egg Hunt, held on April 7th. We will need volunteers to help set up Dolphin Beach and chaperone and help the Easter Bunny get off the boat. To sign up please e-mail me at the above address or call the volunteer hotline at 703/878-0024.

Notes from the Events Director
February, the month of appreciation for those you value the most, is upon us. Keeping to that tradition, MPOA will be recognizing volunteers from the events, committees, and our hardworking, diligent Board of Directors at the Volunteer Appreciation Reception. This year's reception will be held February 28th at the Montclair Country Club from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Look for an invitation to hit your mailbox by Valentine's Day, February 14th. The R.S.V.P. date is February 21st. Please notify me at events@montclairva.com or 703-670-6187. If you do not receive an invitation and have been a volunteer for anything in the past year, please let me know so that I can add your name to the list. MPOA wants to recognize all volunteers for their valued efforts. Hope you all have a Happy Valentine's Day!
Until Next Month,
Maryanne Toal
Events Director
