April Community Events

The Community Events Committee would like to recognize two long standing members, Nick and Karen Credgington, who recently decided to step down from the committee.  Their input for Montclair events has been invaluable, and on behalf of the entire committee, we would like to thank Karen and Nick for their countless time and effort over the four plus years they have served on the committee.

Along with spring, Montclair's event season is in full bloom!  The Easter Egg Hunt is Saturday, April 7th.  Thank you to all the volunteers who responded after last month's Montclairion article.  Don't forget to bring your own egg basket or bag.  Also, beach tags are mandatory and may be obtained, with proper ID, during normal business hours at the MPOA office.
Next on the list is Beautification Day, scheduled for May 19, 2007 at Dolphin Beach.  For more information please contact Donna McCarter at donnaburke57@comcast.net. Montclair Day is also getting up in gear, and we need as many volunteers as possible for this event.  This year we will be having more games, so hands-on help is greatly needed for the day of the event. Please contact Kati Mangrio at katica1367@hotmail.com to find out how you can help.  I look forward to seeing you at all of Montclair's upcoming events and hope you enjoy the increasing warm weather!

Until Next Month,
Maryanne Toal

THE GOLDEN YEARS

I'd like to mention our very successful lunch at Montclair Country Club in February.  We had 20 Seniors attend and enjoy a delicious meal and hear Katarina Spears, the Site Manager of Rippon Lodge, speak about this historical site right in our neighborhood.  She is an employee of the Prince William County Dept. of Public Works.  She was interesting and informative about the restoration of the building and grounds to the early nineteen hundreds era. They are almost ready for visitors and our seniors could do a day trip to the site in the fall.

Now for our April Events:   We will be going to the 73rd Annual Daffodil Show on Thursday, April 5th, at Mary Washington University in Fredericksburg, VA.  We will again meet at the MPOA Building, this month at 9:00 a.m.; anyone needing a ride please call Cathy Schorn, 703-878-4622.  Car pools will be available.  The show runs from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  There is no admission charge but a donation will be appreciated.  Lunch will be on your own and we will be back home in the early afternoon.

Please note this trip is a week before our regular monthly meeting which is the second Thursday of the month, April 12th at 12:30 p.m.   We do not have a confirmed speaker for this meeting as this goes to press, however; we will have someone of general interest, so join us for an hour or so, we're a friendly group and we always serve light refreshments.  For further information please call Jane Rueben, 703-583-8331.
