General Manager's Corner
by Ted Wessel
Fall has finally arrived which means Oktoberfest is right around the corner. Along with the changing of the leaves, Montclair Property Owners Association has experienced some changes as well. Armstrong Connect, Montclair's online network, will be activated this month. Instructions on how to register for the program will be sent to homeowners in the mail shortly.
The MPOA staff would like to welcome an addition, Courtney Larson. Courtney is a recent graduate of Virginia Tech and our new Communications Director. She has taken on full responsibility of the Montclairion and will also be managing the Montclair website. For questions, concerns, or suggestions for the Montclairion, send Courtney an email at newsletter@montclairva.com.
In other news, the MPOA staff now has two certified public notaries: Brandi Langeneck and Denise Sancarranco. Notaries are available at no charge for Montclair residents for personal use only. Business-related notaries for residents will require a small fee. Non-Montclair residents will also be subject to a fee. Please call the MPOA office at (703) 670-6187 to schedule an appointment for this service.
September's Manager's Corner touched on the use of the MPOA Conference Room. It was reported that events involving individuals under the age of 21-even with the required adult supervision-required the presence of security in the form of off-duty police or a licensed security firm. It also stated that proof of arrangements for private security must be provided at the time of reservation along with a $150 usage fee. These changes, while they were brought up in a motion, were not passed. We apologize for this error.
Lastly, in light of the recent vandalism acts, many residents have questioned the role of Montclair's Community Patrol. The Community Patrol officers provide coverage 24 hours a day in order to observe and report any suspicious activity. Their presence also serves as a form of crime prevention. The Community Patrol has no arresting authority. If your property is vandalized, it is your responsibility as a homeowner to call Prince William County Police. For all emergencies, please call 911. All non-emergencies, call (703) 792-6500.
