Montclair Recreation Photo IDs - What You Need to Know

With Memorial Day just around the corner, a trip to one of Montclair's three lakeside beaches may be on your to-do list. Before heading to the beach, be sure to pick up your 2015-16 Recreation Photo ID at the MPOA office. Beginning this year, photo identification cards have replaced the previously used plastic tag system. Below we've included some important information on obtaining photo IDs, when and where they are used, and how you can get yours today. Recreation Photo IDs Recreation Photo IDs are required by residents using the community's facilities (beaches, playgrounds, etc.) and attending community events. There are two types of photo IDs available: unrestricted and restricted. Unrestricted Photo IDs are issued to residents age 12 and older. Residents holding an unrestricted photo ID are permitted 4 guests per ID on regular (non-event) days, and 2 guests per ID at community events. Restricted Photo IDs are issued to residents 11 and younger. Residents holding a restricted photo ID are permitted 1 guest age 16 or older acting as their caretaker. Restricted Photo IDs are not required for residents 11 and younger, but are useful for children with caretakers that do not live within Montclair. Guests are the responsibility of the resident with which they are visiting. Obtaining Recreation Photo IDs Residents can obtain Recreation Photo IDs by visiting the MPOA office during normal business hours. Each resident requesting a photo ID must be present to have their photo taken. Emailed and printout photos cannot be accepted. Households with multiple residents are not required to obtain photo IDs all at once, and may visit the MPOA office individually to obtain photo IDs. The following items must be presented at the time of the request to permit issuance of photo ID:

  • Recreation Photo ID Application, available at the MPOA office or at www.montclairva.com;

  • Identification for each person 18 years of age or older applying for a photo ID, showing name and current Montclair address;

  • Tenants: Current lease or utility bill for the Montclair address.

The property address must be in good standing for photo IDs to be issued. Photo IDs cannot be issued to tenants if the property owner has not paid the current assessment. To confirm your account balance before visiting the MPOA office, please call (703) 670-6187. Extended Hours for Recreation Photo IDs In an effort to accommodate residents during the transition to photo IDs, the MPOA office will offer the following extended hours during the month of May:

  • May 21 5-8 p.m.

  • May 28 5-8 p.m.

  • May 30 2-5 p.m.

In addition to these extended hours, the MPOA office is open Wednesdays until 8 p.m., April through October. Recreation Photo IDs can be obtained at any time during normal MPOA office business hours. If you have any questions regarding this notice, please contact our office at (703) 670-6187.
