Monitoring Hurricane Joaquin

As Hurricane Joaquin strengthens and approaches the coast, management staff will be monitoring Lake Montclair and taking any appropriate actions needed to maintain the lake level. The sluice gate was opened Tuesday, September 29 around 9 p.m. to accommodate the increased precipitation in the area. The sluice gate will remain open in anticipation of precipitation forecasted for Thursday, October 1 through Monday, October 5. While the lake level may fluctuate during this time, the lake will not be lowered in excess of 2 feet below the standard 188 feet above mean sea level. Lakefront owners are advised to take any necessary precautions during this time, including but not limited to adjusting pontoon retaining lines and properly securing or removing boats, canoes and kayaks. Updates will be posted here and on the Facebook Page as they become available. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our office at (703) 670-6187 or info@montclairva.com.
