Lake Montclair Update

Update 7/2 4:21 p.m.: A follow-up test performed yesterday, July 1 revealed acceptable levels of E. Coli at West Beach.

Dear Montclair residents,

This message is to inform you of the results of this week’s water quality test results for the beaches on Lake Montclair. Results indicated a higher than normal level of E. Coli present at West Beach. Such results are not abnormal after large storms like the one we experienced earlier this week.

Lake Montclair is a natural, living body of water. Any such body of water is subject to various bacteria at times from storm water runoff, as well as organisms and animals that call the lake home. The results of this week’s water quality testing indicate that the levels at both Beaver Landing and Dolphin Beach are acceptable.

We felt it best to inform you of these results so that you can make an informed decision about swimming at West Beach this holiday weekend.

We wish you all a safe and Happy Independence Day!
