Community Update – August 16, 2021


Beer on the Beach (Dolphin)– 8/20 @ 7:00 p.m. Recommended for ages 21 and up. Please bring your own lawn chairs, snacks, and drinks. Personal grills and glass containers are prohibited. Coolers will be checked before entry. All residents must present a valid 2021 Recreation Photo ID to enter this event. Only 2 guests per ID. The beach will close at 9:00 pm and the parking lot gates will close at 9:15 pm. Vehicles left in the parking lot can be retrieved the following morning at 7:30 am when the gate re-opens.


Summer Movie Night – 8/21 @ Dusk (postponed from 8/14) The showing of ‘The War with Grandpa’ will be held at Dolphin Beach, beginning at dusk. Please bring your own lawn chairs, snacks, drinks or enjoy a treat from one of the food trucks. Alcoholic beverages, portable grills, and glass containers are prohibited. Food Trucks - Chix N’ Stix and Anita’s Frozen Cotton Candy All Members must present a 2021 REC ID. Only 2 guests per ID. The beach and parking lot gate will close at the conclusion of the movie. Vehicles left in the parking lot can be retrieved the following morning at 7:30 am when the gate re-opens.

COVID-19 Cases Continue to Increase in Virginia and in the Prince William Health District; Delta Variant Accounts for +80% of Cases


The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that the Delta variant accounted for less than 1% of cases in May, but now it accounts for more than 80% of COVID-19 cases.


The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) reports a significant increase in the Delta variant across the Commonwealth. It spreads more than twice as quickly as the earlier strains. The majority of hospitalizations and deaths continue to be in the unvaccinated.

Vaccine are the best way to protect yourself and your community against increasing COVID-19cases, severe disease, hospitalization and even death.


VDH advises Virginians to:

• Wear a mask in indoor settings even if you are vaccinated

• Get fully vaccinated

• Stay at least six feet from others outside of your household

• Avoid crowds and poorly ventilated spaces

• Wash your hands often

• Stay home if you are infected with COVID-19

• Stay separate from others and get tested if you have had close contact with

someone with COVID-19
