Lake Montclair Clean Up Effort

The Spillway Alteration project continues to move along as planned with no significant delays thus far. The work on the sewer pipe that runs through the project has been completed and approved by the Prince William County Service Authority. That work included replacing the section of the pipe that runs through the cutback protection wall and lining the entire pipe. Approximately 100’ of the wall has had footers poured, and concrete forms are being installed currently to pour a section of the wall itself towards the end of this week. As that section of the wall is completed, the contractor will move to the next section, which should progress faster than the first section as they will not have to contend with the sewer pipe. To date, the project remains on schedule. Lake clean-up efforts by the MPOA Maintenance staff have begun. In the past two weeks, staff has already removed over 40 bags of trash from the lake in front of the dam, along Dolphin Beach, and at Beaver Landing. Homeowners are invited to join the maintenance staff on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 8am to assist in cleaning up Lake Montclair. TOMORROW, JUNE 28th, STAFF WILL BE WORKING AT WEST BEACH. Come out and join us as you are able. Special thanks to Keep Prince William Beautiful for donating equipment such as pickers and gloves for use for these efforts. The location of our efforts varies, so stay tuned to Facebook and email to find out where future clean-up efforts will be. Efforts continue relative to restoring Dolphin Beach after the project is complete are also underway. The Dolphin Beach Restoration Ad Hoc Committee is working diligently on items such as lifeguard stands, lighting, dock repair and/or replacement, etc. The next meeting of this committee is this Friday, June 29th at 3pm here at the MPOA Building. You are encouraged to attend if you are interested in helping to restore Dolphin Beach to the asset it has always been to Montclair.
