This year, take a cruise around the Potomac on the Spirit, a luxury ship that takes you on a scenic tour of Virginia’s most iconic river while you enjoy a buffet lunch. Recommended age is 55+. A small number of tickets are still available for $65. Call the MPOA at (703) 670-6187 with any questions or to check availability. If you have already purchased a ticket, don’t forget that your ride will leave at 9:45 a.m. sharp at the MPOA building so make sure you arrive in plenty of time. Toys for Tots starts today

Today, November 27, Montclair will start collecting donations for Toys for Tots at the MPOA office. All who are interested are more than welcome to drop off new and unwrapped toys for families in need. We will only be collecting donations through 12:00 noon on December 8, so make sure to get your donations in as soon as possible!

Holiday Home Decorating Contest

Get into the holiday spirit and nominate yourself or a neighbor for the Holiday Home Decorating Contest. This year, the Garden Club of Montclair will pick winners for the following categories. Overall Favorite Yuletide Tradition Winter Whimsy High Wattage Holiday Don’t forget to vote for your favorite on the official Montclair Facebook Group. At Large Director Position

Don’t forget that next Thursday, November 30, is the last day you can submit your nomination for the recently vacated At Large Director seat on the Board of Directors. If you are an MPOA Member in good standing, you are eligible to run for this position. Interested candidates may submit their completed forms to communications@montclairva.com. MPOA Office Closed for Thanksgiving

The MPOA office will be closed this Thursday, November 23 and Friday, November 24 in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday. Emails and phone calls will not be monitored out of office and will be promptly responded to once normal business hours resume on Monday, November 27 at 8:30 a.m.

Annual Lake Lowering Notification

Please note that Lake Montclair will be lowered by three feet on Monday, November 27 for two weeks. Lakefront owners are encouraged to take any necessary action to protect their property, including adjusting pontoon retaining lines and properly securing or removing boats, canoes and kayaks. Saturday with Santa, December 9

He’s making a list and checking it twice. Join us Saturday morning on December 9 as Santa rides through the neighborhood on his big red fire truck and distributes candy to all the children of Montclair. Then, join us at the Southlake Recreation Center at 3:30 p.m. and spend the afternoon making ornaments, coloring holiday themed pictures and taking photos with Kris Kringle and Mrs. Claus. Take the opportunity to treat yourself this holiday season and join your friends and neighbors on a cruise around the Potomac. This year’s Senior Holiday Outing takes place on December 1, and gives you the opportunity to relax on the luxury ship, the Spirit, enjoy a buffet lunch and experience the views and beautiful sights on the Potomac. The bus to take you on your holiday adventure will leave the MPOA office at 9:45 a.m. and is expected to arrive back at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale for $65 at the MPOA office. Only 24 are available, so make sure you get yours today. Due to limited number of tickets available, residents are permitted to take only one guest. Recommended age 55+.

Starting Monday, November 27, Montclair will start accepting donations for Toys for Tots at the MPOA office. Residents may to drop off any new, unwrapped toys at the office during business hours (8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday). VDOT Updates

Please be aware that VDOT will be performing routine maintenance on Avon Drive this week in addition to the streets mentioned below. As of now, the following streets will also be serviced in the following weeks -Fairway Dr. (11/9-Paving ) -Spillway Ln. (11/10-Paving) -Dolphin Dr. (11/11-Paving) If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to VDOT at (703) 383-8368.

Operation Turkey – Last day tomorrow!

Don’t forget this Friday, November 10, is the deadline for Operation Turkey Donations. Operation Turkey is organized by Prince William County ACTS and seeks to feed families who will not be able to afford a Thanksgiving feast. If you are interested in contributing to this worthy cause, please make sure to drop off all your donations at the MPOA office no later than 12:00 p.m. this Friday. Annual Lake Lowering Notification – November 27

On Monday, November 27, the water level of Lake Montclair will be temporarily lowered by three feet to allow for maintenance of the downpipe structure gates and sluice gate. All community beaches and common property in the surrounding area will receive a thorough cleaning. In addition, sand on the beaches and swim area will be replenished as needed. The lake will be maintained at the adjusted level for two weeks. After the required work has been completed, the sluice gates will be closed and water levels will naturally return to regular levels (188 feet above mean sea level).
